ALDS & NLDS Predictions

ALDS

Texas Rangers Vs Baltimore Orioles

This Baltimore Orioles squad has been the biggest surprise this season. I assumed this team was going to be pretty much garbage when the season began and turns out they are the best team in the AL! They are young with quite a few up and coming super stars. Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson have lived up to all the hype and have made a big difference in this lineup, but the starting pitching has been why the Orioles have maintained their dominance throughout the season. The Rangers have been one of the best teams offensively and it showed in the Wild Card matchup, but the injuries to the starting pitchers have been a problem. This Rangers lineup is going to be tough, but I think even if the Orioles starting pitching gets in a slump they have the lineup that can keep pace with the Rangers and score a bunch of runs. The Orioles are the deeper team with a more reliable bullpen and the big bats to drive in plenty of runs. It should be a close series, but the Orioles have been much more consistent this season and should move onto the ALCS!

Minnesota Twins Vs Houston Astros

Now that the Twins have finally broken the playoff drought, it’s time to see if they are a legit team or just the layup we all expect them to be. The Twins have not really dominated in any way at all this season and it feels like they are only here because they are in a terrible division. The Astros are the defending champs and have been a dominant postseason team for many years now. They have plenty of players with championship pedigree and can step it up in any game. The Twins have been lights out with their starting pitching, but so have the Astros. The Twins are a very streaky team offensively and this is not a team you want to slip up against. The Astros have way too much experience for me to believe that the Twins have a shot in this one.

NLDS

Arizona Diamondbacks Vs Los Angeles Dodgers

This matchup has been a battle throughout the season. Since they are division opponents they know each other well and their rosters are similar in many ways. The starting pitching is solid for both teams, they can score, and defensively they don’t make a lot of errors. The only difference is the Dodgers have the superstar players who are capable of taking over a game and become a difference maker. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman have proven time and again they cannot be stopped and I’m not quite sure the Diamondbacks will be able to contain them for an entire series. The Dodgers have been known to fall apart in the postseason, but I don’t think that will happen just yet! Overall, I trust the Dodgers more than I do the Diamondbacks. I think it will be a tight series, but the Dodgers will come out on top in the end!

Philadelphia Phillies Vs Atlanta Braves

The Braves are hands down the best team in the league from top to bottom! They have top tier players at multiple positions, young players capable of making the big play, a strike out king in Spencer Strider, and the best player in the game in Ronald Acuna Jr. The Phillies are coming in HOT! Exactly, like last season when they made their postseason run. Bryce Harper is getting back to form, Castellanos has had a hot bat all season, and the starting pitching is back to its old dominating form. This is a division battle, but the Braves are head and shoulders above the rest and they just seem like they are headed right for a World Series. Even if they suffer an injury the depth that they have on their roster makes it seem like it’s not a big deal because the next guy up will play just as well! I expect this to be an electric series, but I think the Braves are just too damn good for the Phillies to beat in a 5 game series.
