MLB Wild Card Playoff Predictions

MLB Wild Card Playoff Predictions

AL

Toronto Blue Jays Vs Minnesota Twins

Both of these teams had very similar regular seasons for the most part. They were up and down and really weren’t that consistent. I don’t think anybody, including myself, takes either of these teams seriously in the postseason. But they do play the game for a reason and anything can happen. In this matchup I believe the Blue Jays are much more consistent on the offensive side of the ball. Bo Bichette has had a phenomenal season right along with Vlad Guerrero Jr. and the starting pitching has played a big role in as to why they are here. The Twins starting pitching has been one of the best in the second half of the season, but I believe the Blue Jays are just a better team with more superstar players who are capable of taking the game over.

Texas Rangers Vs Tampa Bay Rays

Nobody has had to overcome as much injury adversity as these two teams have this season. They have had season ending injuries to some of their top players throughout the season and still have been able to overcome all of that and have ended up here. The Rangers have been a bit more inconsistent this season compared to the Rays. The Rays started off as the best team in the league and started to peter out after the second half, but were still able to keep up with all the best teams in the league. The Rangers offensively are a juggernaut, but I think the Rays have the perfect lineup to go toe to toe with them in scoring runs. I feel like each game in this series will be a battle, but the Rays have played much more consistent baseball and I trust them a lot more at this point than I do the Rangers.

Arizona Diamondbacks Vs Milwaukee Brewers

The starting pitching has carried the both of these teams throughout the season and I’m expecting a pitching battle in this series! Zac Gallen has been one of the most consistent pitchers this season and is hard to score on. The Brewers will be without Brandon Woodruff in this matchup and that could be all the difference in this one. The Brewers can get hot on the offensive side of things, but they are led with the starting pitching. The Diamondbacks have a strong batting order led by Christian Walker who has provided a ton of run support to Arizona. I think the Diamondbacks hitters will get the best of the Brewers pitchers in this matchup and it will be too much for the Brewers to overcome in this one.

Miami Marlins Vs Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies are rolling into the playoffs just the way they did last year on their World Series run through the National League. The starting pitching has been top notch and the hitters can’t be stopped. Bryce Harper started off the season with an injury and missed a good portion to start, but the last couple of months he looks like the old Bryce Harper. Nick Castellanos has finally started to break through this season in the batting order and has provided a good chunk of the offense all year. The Marlins backed their way into the playoffs and I’m shocked they even made it this far. I don’t believe they have a shot at even winning one game in this series.
