2019 NFL Season Predictions - NFC & AFC South

2019 NFL Season Predictions

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons (10-6)

The Falcons are a team that can be easy to forget because they don’t know how to win on a consistent basis. One year they’re in the Super Bowl then the next they’re trash. Last season they dealt with a lot of injuries from Week 1 on and it was difficult for them to find any rhythm. I expect them to bounce back this season and compete for the top spot in one of the toughest divisions in the league. On offense they have probably the best receiving core led by Julio Jones who continues to dominate any defense that attempts to cover him. Even if you triple cover him, if that ball is anywhere near Julio that dude is getting it! The Falcons have a solid offensive line and if Davonta Freeman can stay healthy he will add another layer to this offense. On defense they have a strong secondary, but the front line has some questions. If the Falcons are able to start the season off hot they will be difficult for the rest of the division to keep up with.

New Orleans Saints (10-6)

The Saints are a team you can’t count out as long as they have Drew Brees at quarterback and Sean Payton as the head coach. Brees continues to play at a high level and bring out the best in every player on the offensive side of the ball. Alvin Kamara will be taking over as the starting running back this season and will have to carry the load on offense. I believe he will shine in that role, but my only problem with the Saints is their offensive line. It’s mediocre at best and could end up being a problem in the long run for both Brees and Kamara. On the defensive side of the ball Cameron Jordan has the line on lockdown and has opposing quarterbacks running for their lives. The secondary has some holes and it will be interesting to see if they’re able to lock it down for four quarters or end up gassed towards the end.

Carolina Panthers (8-8)

The Panthers have not been the same since they lost the Super Bowl a few seasons ago. Cam Newton is a good quarterback and the offense looks good when he’s playing well, but unfortunately the dude hasn’t been able to stay healthy. Christian McCaffrey is a beast of a back, but I’m not sure he can carry the offense if there is no stability at quarterback if Newton keeps getting injured. The defense has fallen off the face the Earth and I expect that freefall to continue this year. I have a feeling it’s going to be an up and down season for the Panthers.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-10)

Jameis Winston has turned out to be a total bust so far for the Bucs. I’m honestly surprised they ended up keeping him this season because he’s been such a waste. I don’t believe that gamble will pay off for the Bucs and I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets benched at some point in the season due to poor play. Even if Winston wasn’t a garbage pile of a quarterback the offense, overall is trash and this team has no chance at anything other than a high draft pick in the 2020 draft!

AFC South

Tennessee Titans (10-6)

Some team has to win this shit division and the Titans have more promise with their entire team from top to bottom than everyone else in this horrible, awful, garbage can division. Starting with their coach Mike Vrabel, in comparison to the rest of the division he seems like he has the best grasp on his team. Derrick Henry is a beast of a back and will shoulder the load on offense, but outside of him the offense is pretty weak. Not much is going on with the defense either, but like I said this is a garbage division so a mediocre team can easily win this division.

Houston Texans (9-7)

The Texans are just garbage. The only reason why I’m giving them a halfway decent record is because their division is just the absolute worst and they should get some wins just for that reason alone. The Texans have never had any direction as a team, which is why they’re an epic fail year in and year out. It should be another classic snoozefest for Texans fans this year!

Jacksonville Jaguars (5-11)

The Jaguars kicked Blake Bortles ass to the curb and are now starting over at quarterback with Nick Foles. While Foles filled in quite nice at backup quarterback in Philly I’m intrigued to see how this is going to go for him as the starter in Jacksonville. I believe Foles was a product of the system in Philly and that will be exposed this season in Jacksonville. The only weapon he has on offense is the running back Leonard Fournette, who is a beast, but is also injury prone. The Jags defense used to be one of the best in the league, but fell off horribly last year, and I’m not sure they will be able to bounce back this season since they will have to carry the load for this team given the weak ass offensive situation. I’m not expecting much from the Jaguars this season except for a whole lot of losing!

Indianapolis Colts (3-13)

Prior to Andrew Luck’s retirement I had the Colts going to the Super Bowl, after he retired this team went from first to worst in the division! Luck was the engine that ran this train and now the Colts season has been derailed and I don’t believe they have enough time to recover. This season has started off horribly and I anticipate that’s how the rest of the season will go for them.

2019 NFL Season Predictions - NFC & AFC North

2019 NFL Season Predictions

NFC North

Minnesota Vikings (11-5)

The Vikings are a team everyone is sleeping on because of how poorly they played last season, but I think a lot of that can be blamed on the injuries to key players who are now back this year. They have an explosive offense with two of the best receivers in the league with Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs and, if Dalvin Cook is able to stay healthy this season he can add an extra layer to this offense. Kirk Cousins isn’t a horrible quarterback and if all of the weapons on the offense are healthy he should be able to keep this offense rolling. On defense they are a bunch of no names the casual fan couldn’t point out, but they are physical and tough on the defensive side of the ball and should give any opposing offense nightmares. I think the Vikings are going to bounce back strong this season and make some noise during the playoffs.

Chicago Bears (10-6)

The Bears surprised everyone las season by absolutely dominating the regular season. I expect them to continue to build off of what they started last season. Starting with the defense and the beast that is Khalil Mack, he is a killer on the defensive line and has every quarterback he’s up against running for their lives! Right behind him there is a strong lockdown secondary that make it very difficult for any opposing receiver to get open. The Bears on offense are still pretty weak at the wide receiver position, but have a very strong offensive line which will help build the ground game. The Bears are a solid team and should have another strong showing this season led by their defense which will be one of the best in the league.

Green Bay Packers (8-8)

I’m always amused every season when the Packers are the supposed front runner as one of the top teams in the NFC, when they shouldn’t even be considered one of the top teams in their own division. Don’t get me wrong Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback, but the problem for the Packers over the years has been they refuse to get him any help at all! They expect him to literally do everything on offense and that’s impossible! Going into this season this is shaping up to be Aaron Rodgers worst group of offensive weapons he could possibly receive. He has a new coach, he has no top wide receiver to be seen, his offensive line is garbage, and the running back position continues to remain a mystery. Aaron Rodgers is only getting older and seems to get beat up more and more every season, and from what I can see that won’t change this season. I have a feeling the Packers will have a tumultuous season with no consistency at all on offense or defense.

Detroit Lions (4-12)

The Lions have done a good job at wasting the career of Matthew Stafford. It’s been awhile since he’s had a decent receiver and it’s been an even longer while since he’s had a decent offensive line or a ground game to turn to. The defense is mediocre at best and I have a feeling the Detroit Lions of old who ruled the league as losers have come back for their crown!

AFC North

Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4)

I think a lot of people are sleeping on the Steelers because of what went down with Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown this offseason. I have the opposite thoughts and believe that getting rid of the both of them will be a blessing in disguise. It was already proven last season that the Steelers are fine without Le’Veon Bell because James Conner stepped in and dominated and, I only expect him to get better this season. Antonio Brown will not be missed. I always thought that dude was a total cunt! This new wave of player who has to arrive to training camp in some stupid “look at me” type of fashion has ALWAYS pissed me off and you are nothing but a diva cunt who is a cancer to your locker room. So, the loss of Antonio Brown is no loss at all because you’ve gained plenty by getting his stupid ass out of that locker room. The Steelers offense should do just fine, it’s the defense where there problems have been over the last couple of years. Their linebackers are stout and will be tough for any offense they’re up against. TJ Watt is coming off of a strong season last year and I only expect him to improve and take on more of a leadership role this season. The Steelers should dominate the AFC this season!

Cleveland Browns (10-6)

This the first time in pretty much ever that the Browns have actual expectations on them to be a good team. For me, the Browns ain’t shit until they have proven otherwise. They are building a solid nucleus with the additions through the draft, free agency and trades, but they have not proven a damn thing. They should be a good team this year, but I expect them to have some growing pains along the way. They are a young team with a new coach and no identity has taken shape as of yet and with all of that I can’t say they are a clear cut favorite to win their tough division. They should make some noise and compete for a spot in the playoffs.

Baltimore Ravens (9-7)

This year’s Ravens team will be the definition of mediocrity because they don’t have a lot going on with the offense or defense. Lamar Jackson looks like he has a promising future as a quarterback, but he’s going to have a tough time behind that offensive line this season. Then you take a look at his options at wide receiver and think who the fuck is this guy going to complete a pass to if he even gets the chance to throw up a prayer? Mark Ingram was a good addition to the ground game, but there’s always the question of whether or not he can stay healthy for an entire season. On defense they picked up Earl Thomas who is one of the best safeties in the game, but has also been having issues with injuries over the last couple of seasons. The Ravens come into this season with too many questions at too many positions which usually doesn’t translate well onto the field, especially in this division.

Cincinnati Bengals (1-15)

The Bengals are by far one of the worst teams in the league. I predict they will have the first pick in next year’s draft because they are going to have a difficult time finding any wins this season!

2019 NFL Season Predictions - NFC & AFC East

2019 NFL Season Predictions

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys (13-3)

Well I hope all the Cowboys haters enjoyed the suffering of us Cowboys fans over the years because I think that will all come to an end this year! The Cowboys are stacked on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. They have built this team from the ground up with solid draft picks and smart moves in free agency and trades. They have a young squad who have grown into a solid team and this year the hard work should finally pay off. On offense I expect Ezekiel Elliott to pick up right where he left off last season by running the opposing defense into the ground, and making a strong case for league MVP. While Zeke is expected to carry the load, I do believe that Dak is going to have one of the best seasons of his career. There is more depth at receiver with Jason Witten coming out of retirement and the addition of Randall Cobb in the offseason, but you can tell Dak spent the offseason working on his mechanics. Judging from the preseason he has been much more accurate and that is going to be scary for the league. On defense this team is going to be one of the best in the league. Their linebacking core is one of the best in the league led by Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith, and I haven’t got to the front line with DeMarcus Lawrence on the end. The Cowboys have spent the entire offseason building and everyone seems to be on the same page from the coaches down to the players. I expect the Cowboys to be one of the best teams in the league this season.

Philadelphia Eagles (10-6)

I miss the good old days when the Eagles were a garbage can team with no Super Bowl rings, but now they are actually a team that could win the NFC East regularly! Carson Wentz is coming off of yet another injury that ended his season last year. It will be interesting to see if he’s able to make it through this season without having to miss any games due to injury, especially now the backup quarterback situation is much different without Nick Foles. Overall not much has changed about this team aside from getting some key players back from injury. They still have an explosive offense and a solid defense, along with a smart coach I anticipate a strong showing from the Eagles this year.

Washington Redskins (4-12)

I think it’s safe to say that the Jay Gruden experiment as the Coach of the Redskins has failed horribly! They have grown progressively worse every day of his coaching career with the team. They have never had an identity beyond mediocrity. They have had no consistency at quarterback, running back, wide receiver, defense, or really at any position on the field. I predict a season of rotating quarterbacks, yet again, and I also predict Gruden is one of the first coaches fired before the season ends.

New York Giants (2-14)

It doesn’t matter who ends up starting as the quarterback for the Giants this season because overall this team is garbage! Saquon Barkley is probably going to be fun to watch and he is definitely going to make some big plays, but outside of him this team has nothing going on. Eli Manning’s career is slowly dying each and every season and the defense follows right along with him. I expect a hilarious season full of follies for the New York Giants and I am looking forward to it!

AFC East

New England Patriots (10-6)

There really isn’t anything to say about the Patriots because Tom Brady is still the quarterback and Bill Belichick is still the coach. Also, the AFC East continues to be one of the worst division in the entire league! It should be another cake walk to the playoffs for the Patriots! They may not end up being the top team in the AFC, but you can’t ever count this team out when Brady is still playing at an elite level.

New York Jets (9-7)

I think the Jets will be one of the most improved teams from last season. They have made some great additions to the team starting with signing Le’Veon Bell. He is going to add a spark to this offense and is going to give Sam Darnold a nice weapon to help open up the offense. While I do believe the Jets are an improved team, they still have a long way to go to become a contender. I’m not really sold on Adam Gase as the coach because he was such an epic fail in Miami, but he never had a player like Le’Veon Bell who can take a team to a whole other level. The Jets are building a solid foundation with a bright future. The Jets will shake some shit up this season and maybe even make a run at the playoffs as a Wild Card team.

Buffalo Bills (6-10)

The Bills have to actually show me something before I ever consider them to be a legit team. There is absolutely nothing going on with this squad and I’m expecting them to have another season of getting their asses whooped!

Miami Dolphins (3-13)

The Dolphins are poised to be one of the worst teams in the league this season. I was just looking over the entire roster and when you’re best player is Ryan Fitzpatrick…that’s a problem! It’s going to be a long season for Miami…a long season of losing.
